We will meet tomorrow at 9am at room 5.29 or room 5.30. It depends if the studios are being used by the 1st or 3rd year animation students. Is that okay with youz?

IFC (International Farmers Council)

Hey Chris I like the idea of the IFC (International Farmers Council). It makes the game seem bigger and I agree that it fit the theme.

For the setting I was thinking more about a generic sort of farm. Like and American farm but make the design our own. I was thinking having a big red barn and a small farm house with a tree next to it. Just a thought.

Meeting time?

Hello..I was just wondering. What time and where are we meeting tomorrow for our project discussion. Are we still having it before lecture? I think after the sound lecture is fine as well as all of us have a lot of time after that.

Sounds good?

Preliminary Ideas

Hi Peeps,

I really like the idea of nuclear/cosmic waste mutation. This theme fits our Farmergeddon title better and it simplifies the whole concept because the audience can relate to this immediately.
Leon proposed the idea of the mutation and an antidote to reverse the mutation.
So I was thinking our game background story could be this;

Something or some event has caused the mutation of most of the farms and its animals around the globe. To prevent the world from starvation, an International High Council of Farmers has developed an antidote and summoned 3 of the best farmers in the world to travel to these farms to transform the animals and restore the land. So each of the 3 farmers comes from different parts of the globe and has a special ability. The 3 farmers' mission will begin in a farm of 1 country. Once the level is cleared, they will advance to the next mission which is another farm in another country and so on

We can design our level to be based on a Australian farm. What do you guys think of this story idea?

I am designing a chinese farmer and my special ability is long range sight. I have attached some sample sketches of my character. I am still working on finalizing the design. I have also designed a killer egg character..haha

I saw the gnomon link from the earlier post. The humanoid modeling tutorial is exactly the one I am going to give you guys. So please do not go and download it. I was looking at some game model samples from Warcraft. I realised the model was really really basic in terms of shapes. The textures were the formula that made them look awesome. I think we can really push the design of the character and not worry so much about the modeling. We should focus more time on creating good textures. Btw, I have a book on animals anatomy. There are articles on dogs, cats, cows, pigs and horses. Let me know if you need them for references and I will get them zapped.

This is a great site for more training and info on concept design, 3D modeling and just pretty much everything you can think of for the creative industry, they have got here as DVD tutorials. I had a look at the MAYA tutorial they look pretty good.

this one is about humanoid modeling but you have to purchase it.
